I don’t feel comfortable involving myself with anyone who condones or excuses sexual depictions of minors in any way, shape, or form. No one should.

Recently, a very popular Percy Jackson fanfic writer was called out on disturbing behavior—something I, and many others, had called her out on in the past. Something she, as an adult, persistently denied accountability of and created a safe space where her and her dedicated fanbase could consume NSFW of underaged characters.
She took to TikTok. Where she promoted her fanfic about a middle grade series—about minors, to other minors—which had explicit content.
All is to say, please remember Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a Middle Grade book series. It’s not something you should be writing NSFW about—especially not as an adult. Especially not when your OC is designed as a self insert.
The writer has since deactivated her Tiktok and taken down her story, and is seemingly attempting to own up to her mistakes—as an author and adult. To those who enjoyed her story, and are vehemently defending her actions, I suggest taking a step back yourself and treat the situation with the sensitivity it deserves, because this goes far beyond it being your favorite fanfic on Wattpad. If you’re not able to, then I don’t think you should be including yourself in the conversation.
