I need to talk about this because I want to rant to people about my hatred for this performance, but what is your opinion on “Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead”?
Please feel free to tell me everything you feel about it, because I’ll probably agree with you.
(Personally, I think the only “well” adapted characters were Schroeder and Sally. [And whenever I say well, I just mean better than everybody else.])

Oh! Another thing I forgot to mention though is that Charlie’s mannerisms, as well as the way Peppermint Patty speaks about others, is completely opposite to what they would actually do. Charlie Brown just shifts the blame onto everybody else half the time and we only have a couple of scenes of internalization—which is a major part of his personality. Peppermint Patty is also known for this as well, putting herself down to lift others up—think the whole, “You know what I did, Linus? I cried.” speech. She never had a ton of confidence, and whenever she was confident, something would also go wrong or it was faked. Linus was just a direct attack towards me, though, as sad as it is. I can get past the stoner portion of his character if he wasn’t smart in the wrong ways. They used him as a sort of comedic relief instead of a mentor for Charlie, and helps absolutely nobody during the span of the play. He’s just used as another intellectual comedic relief that he wasn’t originally intended to be.

@33court Okay, I was trying to tell you this earlier but my paragraph deleted on me, Sally makes so much sense as a character in the play, not because of it being an “emo phase”—because it wasn’t. It was because she spent her entire childhood copying other people, especially Lucy, and once Lucy was out of the picture, she didn’t necessarily have a personality which is why she “had a new religion every week” or she “felt like a platypus wanting to be a butterfly.” She was just trying to find herself—and Schroeder made so much sense as a character too, with him being the main laughing stock and avoiding human interaction in general and just being avoidant of people. It made sense, because that’s how he was in the script.

@aeanderson140623 I already told u mine but i’ll say it again. I LOVE dog sees god. I think that the characters are hard to recognize, but I think the reason that it looks unrealistic is because it’s the peanuts characters like ten years later. While I think Marcie and Peppermint Patty aren’t adapted that well, the only reason they are like that is because recognizable as friends unlike, say, Violet and Patty who would’ve been a much better fit for those roles. I think the story is interesting, and I really like CB in it. He just has a lot of conflict in the play. I also liked Sally because Sally would DEF go through an “emo” phase. I also liked Lucy being crazy because it’s just funny. I think the worst character is Pigpen/Matt because he’s not the same at all. At least in the comics Pigpen was respectable, like in the play all Matt does is yell at people when they bring up the past. Omg I’m writing a whole essay atp… it’s okay… I think the play is mostly made for edgy middle schoolers though. I like it bc it delves into a different universe of like realism for teenagers. Linus’s character was funny but Linus would NEVER do drugs. He’s like so poetic I feel like. The characters I don’t like are Marcy, Matt, and Linus. I like Peppermint Patty tho… she’s funny
