Instead of a positive or negative review, I'd rather give a point of view which is more realistic.
Noor suffered alot, from childhood she was a victim of trauma, abuse and constant harassment. Readers saw umer as an escape for her. Let's be realistic, in desi households, most of the women escape the brutality if their husbands are supportive.
Umer got her out, helped her, moulded her but he didn't respect the marriage.
No doubt, he wasn't entitled to love her but the least was he could've respected the bond.
Now, he is a grey character, he slipped and emotionally cheated on noor.
I have no words for sumbul, would just leave a comment that people like her do exist. She was kept in the dark and she quietly moved away when she got to know.
Umer, he was a very complex character, author tried to show his sacrifices, feelings and emotions but it all ended up in drain once he cheated on Noor.
That is also a very realistic part, his actions doesn't count when he's not a good man, morally.
Finally, umer sumbul are happy, moved on and living there life while it felt that Noor is still suffering in the shadows of her past.
From the beginning of the book till the end, all I could see was her suffering. No doubt, graduation was her happy part but the past trauma overtook all the present.
Please don't hate the author for giving a different ending, it's her book, her will.
However I'd like to add that umer didn't deserve sumbul, nor Noor. A man who cannot respect a sacred bond, is no man.
There should have been some grovelling, guilt and conscience from umers side.
Him not getting sumbul would've been the perfect punishment for him.
To author, you're not obligated to give clarifications again and again, it's your book. You can write however you want too.
Be cut throat when it comes to your work.❤
