People who boo-hoo because I don’t make my characters Mary Sue make my arse itch. It’s like the most trauma anyone wants to see in anything is the MC having daddy issues or getting abused? It’s ok if that’s where you draw the line but don’t bash me if a story goes over that line. Just because it’s an anime fanfiction doesn’t mean the character can’t go through trauma? Especially sexual assault. I don’t just pick a trauma like “ugh this will be good for her backstory”. No. Depending on what the situation is and the characters backstory and who’s she’s around, I write accordingly to that. And I don’t just glide over it either, I actually have the character progress and grow from the situation. In my naruto story there is a chapter where sexual assault happens because of the situation she’s put in and it just goes to show that bad shi* can happen to good people and it actually traumatizes her for a while. When people write r*pe scenes they just glaze over it and it doesn’t affect the character at all but as someone who’s gone through something similar to that, I know it takes a while to heal from. I most definitely warn people before hand and mark the book as mature if there’s something triggering in it. If books like that are not your cup of tea then you shouldn’t have read it in the first place because I want beforehand. If the MC gets kidnapped by a mafia drug lord do you expect the mc to only get knocked around ? No. Real world mafia does way worse then that. It’s not sunshine and rainbows. My characters go through real world shi* and problems, and I write accordingly to that. if you can’t handle that and wanna go as far as to bash me and misconstrued my work then go read a sold to one direction fanfic.
