Akshay Garud is an exceptional student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where he is pursuing a degree in Bioengineering with a minor in Computer Science, aiming to graduate in 2025. Akshay excels in multiple programming languages, including Java, Python, and C++, and is proficient with software such as Atom, R Programming, MATLAB Octave, and Node.js. His skills extend to Microsoft Excel, Onshape, Autocad, Autodesk Inventor, and Imagej, complemented by practical abilities in 3D Printing, API Testing, and Data Visualization. His academic strengths are further showcased in Linear Algebra, Machine Learning, and Statistics.

Akshay's educational journey is augmented by practical, hands-on experience gained through internships. He conducted significant research at UIUC's Gritton Lab, where he studied neural responses of mice in AI-generated mazes, perfectly blending his knowledge of bioengineering with computer science. Additionally, he gained invaluable experience at TrussHealth, a health tech startup that uses artificial intelligence to enhance patient monitoring, where he contributed to developing web applications and performing API tests.
