My name is Alaska "Megan" Caldwell. Most people call me Megan because that was my birth name, but... I feel sometimes we need alternate titles to help others understand who we really are. Alaska means "Great Land" in Native American origin, however, to be more specific, it derives from an Aleutian term meaning "Object to which the sea is directed," Or, "That which the sea breaks against."
Let's be straight, I don't want to break the ocean, or for the ocean to break me. I plan to be a force to be reckoned with, and the way I see it, there is nothing more powerful than the sea... or words. I can wield one with a fair amount of skill. 
I've always been peculiar. 
As a child, I carried a fancy for the natural and wild places. Reading under the trees, and exploring potentially magical pathways through the southern Texas brush was a routine. But, that was only one side of my coin. The other part of me relished the supernatural, the eerie, and the entirely mystical. That was the world I belonged in. I still do.
Halloween is my favorite holiday.
My adoration for animals extends much farther than my functional memory. Perhaps, this is why I have always counted them as my friends, and, let's be honest, siblings. They have never been just pets. This is all due to the fact I have little to no interest in my own species. Maybe that's why I always have searched for other worlds - where there were other peculiar people like me. In reality, I'm certainly an eccentric. This is most likely the reason I returned to my earliest roots - the seeds that my grandmother planted that grew into redwoods - to the world of literature. 
Finally, I found my place.
I enjoy reading (obviously), writing (surprise), and am extremely passionate about animal rights. In the rare "free time" I have away from my day job, I prefer to sit surrounded by books, animals, a mug of cooling coffee, and when they will tolerate me, family. 
I also wish I could run with wolves.
