Featured Writer's is back! First up for interview is: @Socasm! She is a talented writer of mystery, romance, and fanfiction!
Alcat: Okay. So what inspired you to write this story? Tell me about Phoebe. Who is your favorite character, and why did you start writing?
Socasm: I was writing an original for a year or maybe two before this. I wanted to be that dedicated author that did only originals and left fanfiction behind them- but I wasn't happy, I wanted to quit writing. One of my favorite YouTubers did a video on being true to your passions and yourself. So, I thought I'd restart my original project, eventually I wanted to finish fanfictions I stated years ago and Phantom of the Opera was first.
This was supposed to follow the storyline with a few original concepts to get back into writing on here. Over time it became so much more that I love.
Alcat: Tell me about Phoebe, please.
Socasm: Phoebe is two compact ideas I admire: being able to express yourself artistically, and having any form of impairment and surviving. Art in any form is beautiful and necessary for people. And, there's many people with various forms of learning and physical disabilities, or chronic pain, and mental disorders that still just do because they have to. That's not seen in fiction, a lot. I wanted to reflect my own struggles of having chronic pain and the need to live when there's barriers.
Alcat: How long have you been writing?
Socasm: I've always written. I wrote horse stories in elementary school. My friends and I wrote our own fanfiction and fantasy books in junior high. I dabbled in novel writing starting high school but stopped for "real life". Over the years it was off and on until I couldn't write after an accident for two years. I can honestly say those years was the worst time of my life. Since getting better I haven't taken writing for granted- this is a gift. It's been a life-changing journey to learn and become a deeper writer that's made me a better person.
