Book 13 The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell I loved it! I went in thinking it was a mystery novel but it was essentially a family drama with a bit of mystery. But I still enjoyed it. The concept of hoarding, complicated family dynamics, the dynamic personalities of the family members, all of it was very interesting. I had guessed the plot twist correctly when one of the family members mentioned a forgotten memory, and it kind of disappointed me because I was hoping to be wrong. I expected more. Nonetheless, easy read, easy language, fast paced story that I got well engrossed in. I'm giving it a 4.5 rating. Lisa Jewell might be one of my favourite authors.

And thus completed my #readingchallenge 12th and final book of the Challenge - Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. It was quite a slow read for me. With the writing style mimicking a silent film in my head, I took my sweet time of two whole weeks, reading little by little everyday quite passively. It felt like a memoir, things are just told to us, with no major plot line, nothing keeping you tensed. Its just a way of life. I was absolutely ready to give it a 3.5 rating, until I read the very last page. And damn... That changed everything. Now I was ready to give it a 4.5 star rating. But I can't forget the past few days, hence I settled on my rating at 4.

Book 11 completed! Book: The Grown Up Gillian Flynn is definitely one of my favourite authors. Her genre is right up my alley and I'd love to write a story that portrays the mood I get from her novels. Of her works, I had only read Sharp Objects before. I hope to complete Gone Girl as well in 2024. My rating: 4 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Normally I love open endings, but here I wished for some closure. One more to go!

Hello! Another book review update here. I picked up THE HOUSEMAID because one, it was a thriller and two, because it would not stop coming up on my feed! It's a fast paced thriller with multiple plot twists. The language is very easy to read and can be imagined easily. Occasionally I found the author repeating certain metaphors which seemed a bit amateur. The main plot twist that is revealed at the 60% mark is quite predictable. So is the secret of the Housemaid, it was easy to guess. But inspite of that, I enjoyed reading it. I gave it 4 stars. It wasn't amazing, but it was better than I expected. 2 more books this year and I would meet my '12 books in 2024' challenge

After my 2 month slump, I'm hopefully back to a reading streak. Brother by Ania Ahlborn has been in my TBR for at least 4 years and I'm glad I finally read it. It's a bizarre story of a family of serial killers (not a spoiler) and the story revolves around our main character and his relationship with his brother. There are many layers! There were 2 major plot twists. One of them, I had seen it coming but the other one I did not expect. I love stories where I cannot predict a plot twist and it's good. The language is easy to read and understand, plot is good but it still misses something. Hence I'm not giving it a full rating. 4 stars!
