Lily Wood's life is run by the government. They decide the most important decisions in life for everyone. Half of your senior year is basic school but the other half is where you get accessed to see what jobs you qualify for, where you live, and who you marry. This society is scientific and based on facts. If you can't prove it then it doesn't exist. Love doesn't exist. At least that's what Lily was taught and grew up on.
