Stranger Things ahead:
          my kinda-theory for 
          Season 4, ep. 1 the Hellfire Club :
          
          The Hellfire Club is a group of outcasts that live around where the Byers and El moved to. The leader of the group is another test subject: like El. The leader of the group figures out that El’s just like her/him, and gets super angry because it was El who opened the portal to the Upside Down. They’re angry because El’s the reason they got basically brain-washed by the monsters in the Upside Down and since their mind is corrupted, they want to kill El so then the monsters can run free throughout the world. They become the new protagonist and secretly plan to kill El. The rest of the group... they’re just unimportant.
