I was born and raised on an island where sun and sand were my constant companions. My indoor life enjoyed long, solitary afternoons of reading, imagining, climbing trees (highly frowned upon by my grandmother) and watching documentaries (insisted upon by my grandfather). Summer holidays at my great aunt's in the country were the best: we baked, read, picked fruit and read some more. I enjoy reading, the love of words, the smell of a book (a printed one- clearly). I wish I could find books today whose pages are uncut so I can be it's first encounter as it would be mine. I am working on my first children's book and that is exactly the word - work, work, work at this craft called writing. Oh yes, I am also a teacher and a parent of a teenager.
