@AricaelMalone thank you again for the advice you have given me, I've tried to follow it the best I can :) I know a lot of people probably ask you this, but I have just started a new story called 'Words' and if you would want to read the first chapter I've posted and tell me your thoughts it would be greatly appreciated if not it's fine

            4. Choose your audience wisely.
Now this is not so much a way of getting attention as it is a way of keeping things in perspective. Don't write to get attention here on wattpad. Most users on here are not quality-seekers and are more interested in quick, easy, predictable, cheesy, love stories and fulfilling personal fantasies than they are in writing/reading high quality, interesting, professional writing. While there a few people on here that are truly devoted to their work and are here to share and not receive, most people are simply here for the popularity contest. So keep this in mind: Who are the people you are trying to reach? Are they people that you would want to impress in real life? What is more important to you, admiration from throngs of 12-15 year old One Direction fans, or the respect of fellow AUTHORS who do this for the love of it and not for the rush of getting a new follower or another vote?

Hopefully these few points have been helpful. Good luck!

            3. Present to Real People.
It is often difficult to remember that the people reading your story are real people and that they should be treated as such. Would you present your first book while it still had a ton of errors, a boring cover, and a badly written description? Of course not! Why should you do differently on Wattpad? So, firstly, have an interesting cover that is professional and eye-catching. Secondly, have a good description. There is a fine line between not giving enough information and telling the entire story. Once again, I have stopped reading a book simply because of the description. Try to set an strong base for the story, but don't give away the major plot lines, or by making the story predictable. I have come across many stories that has a description along the lines of "Will they end up together?" or other ridiculous and predictable phrases. Try to maintain mystery while still hooking the reader in. Thirdly, the title. Now this is much trickier than it seems and has been a plague to all authors. I have struggled with this a lot. While there is no sure way of getting a good title, there are some tricks that I could show you if you want. I am also willing to help with any descriptions you might want.

I wish I could say that I am an insanely popular author and that I have all the answers to success, but I am not, and I don't. However, I do admit that a couple of my stories have done moderately well and I would be happy to share a few things that I have done that I believe have contributed to this.

            1. Write correctly.
Now I don't mean that you have to be the next C.S. Lewis, or J.K. Rowling. I mean that you should do everything in your power to bring your writing to the highest point of quality you can. In other words, spell words correctly, make an effort to eliminate punctuation errors, don't over use adverbs and adjectives, use strong descriptive words, keep simple dialogue tags, etc. One of the first things a reader notices is the quality of the work. I have put down (or exited from) many books because of the amount of spelling and grammar errors. If nothing else, do this.

            2. Have a balance.
Maintaining an interesting balance of description and dialogue is probably the most professional thing that one can do. Having a story that is mainly dialogue not only prevents the reader from really visualizing the story, but it also really cuts down on length which most people aren't huge fans of. Having too much description is a sign of amateurs and looks too desperate, as if they are trying to be someone they are not, or as if they are trying to be romantic or poetic to an excessive and obnoxious amount. Having a good balance ensures that the reader is immersed in the story while not overly boring them.
