ok this might be a non-issue but i really think we should start disqualifying people who use ai or straight up plagiarize other ppl's forms in applyfics bcs some of yall are getting way too comfortable with it... i just saw someone reuse another person's gform format and someone else literally rewrote another oc word for word. like we've seriously gone past respecting fellow writers just to get accepted and i fear we have completely lost the plot

@zombiins i totally get that! i personally had help from my friend with my form too since i suck at gdocs and honestly, i don’t think there’s anything wrong with using a format if your friend willingly shared it with you. but i saw one particular case that actually left me speechless bcs they copied everything. the font, the colors, the layout, even the content, and idek if theyre pals with the og creator so it was insane!! and then there’s another one where someone literally just changed the oc’s name and face claim and called it a day. like??? i know it’s kind of a non-issue, but i just feel really strongly about plagiarism, esp bcs i love reading ppl’s forms and seeing their creativity shine. so when i see someone’s work get stolen without credit, it honestly breaks my heart

you can tell how good of a writer someone is by the way they write their oc’s. because why am i scrolling through apply fic submissions and finding a fully fleshed-out character who isn’t just black and white. they’re someone flawed, complicated, but in a way that feels real, that makes me actually connect with their inner struggles?
          
          and then on top of that, they’ve got this wild, outlandish background that shouldn’t make sense in real life, but somehow it works, and actually adds to their depth and development? it makes me want to get on my knees and pray to every storytelling god that the applyfic writer’s got the juice to do that masterpiece of a character justice.

genuinely this is so real!!! i sometimes read forms and i’m just baffled because the writing belongs in a library or in a museum instead of just in a google doc because of just how good everything is. especially when there’s free reign in making the oc and the creators just use all the creativity possible aghhh i love it so much

i couldn’t agree more! i love seeing ocs who are not just mary sues. but also not so over-the-top that they’ve apparently suffered every tragedy known to mankind. some people go so far into tragic backstory territory that it ends up feeling kind of disrespectful, especially when they throw in mental illness or trauma but only use shallow stereotypes to portray it.

            It's also why I love applying so much because I can really hone in on the one character and making them like an actual person (on a side note, I'd love any advice on my own characters, I love making them)
