After a failed suicide attempt our 16 year old protagonist, Shikauhno Lee, decides she needs a fresh start by moving away from her foster family in the US to her hometown Ryojima, Japan. At her arrival she quickly learns that Ryojima is no longer the same. A curfew is implemented and there are rumors and conspiracies of Black Onda which is the irregular havoc wreaked on citizens. People are mysteriously dying and vanishing without a trace. Upon her arrival, Shikauhno crosses paths with a man reported missing. Oddly enough he denies being the missing man and he pursues Shikauhno, attempting to rip her heart out....literally. Just in time, a mystifying handsome man rescues Shikauhno by killing her pursuer and leaves her with these cryptic words, “Let the dead bury their own”.
