I usually don't talk about this but I feel like change is never going to happen if it's not said.
I have and still do, work at a day care for 6 years, and recently started working at Chuck E Cheese as well. Everyday I see kids between ages 6 months - 12 years come in with smiles on their faces.
Seeing them so close with their families and sharing that bond with them shows that this world is a great place.
But then I go home and see on the news that another school shooting takes place and I just want to cry. There needs to be change in this world. Kids should be able to go to clubs, receive an education, be able to hang out with their friends without living in fear of around the corner.
I can't imagine in the next few years when my little cousins start going to school knowing the world is the way it is.
Everyday I see the news and it's another school shooting. And when people mock the walking out system saying kids that do so deserve detention are in the wrong. They aren't missing education by standing up for their community. These kids learn the other 395 days they are in school. LET THEM HAVE A VOICE!
Don't take their youth away.
This is the first time I am actively speaking on this because now that I've been working in the day care for so long, it's been something I hear older ones talking about with each other. And to know that their scared of going into school with a fear for their lives is not good.
Moment of silence is not good anymore. We need to have a moment of action and change.
