CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MOTHERFUCKERS

I’ve seen a lot of stuff recently regarding the morality and ethics of fanfiction about real people and celebrities. The general consensus appears to be that fanfictions are written as some form of objectification of celebrities and are, ultimately, morally wrong. I’d like to say that I write fanfiction purely for my own (and hopefully other’s) enjoyment. My characterisation of public figures are in no way any representation of them in real life and don’t reflect my personal opinions I may have. For me, fanfiction is a way of creating characters from real people and creating entirely fictional backstories and storylines involving the ideas of fame and careers in the entertainment and arts industry. I understand how this could be seen as building on the idea of “celebrity” and the Twitter scene (what a horrible place that is), but that isn’t how I intend for my work to be construed.

I feel like it’s necessary to clarify that fanfiction is, essentially, just a bit of fun that isn’t meant to form opinions or rumours about the private lives of celebrities
