So, like everything else, I'm a bit late for this message:
On July 4th, 2022, Kazuki Takahashi had been found dead in the sea, marking the end of a legend. To those who don't know, Takahashi-san was the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! Yu-Gi-Oh!, which means King of Games, is about spiky-haired teenager Yugi, who receives an ancient puzzle that awakens in him the alter ego of an Egyptian pharaoh. He then solves conflicts using games.
It was published in Japanese comic magazine Shonen Jump between 1996 and 2004, and in 1999 was turned into a real-life trading card game, and now currently has 7 spin-off animes/mangas.
Yu-Gi-Oh came into my life when I was young when Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL first aired on Pop, and although I was too young to properly grasp the plot or rules of the card games, I loved it. Then, about a decade later, my siblings decided to rewatch the show, and I fell in love with it once again. Not only was it my introduction to anime, but it introduced me to an amazing card game, not to mention the incredible characters in the various Yu-Gi-Oh anime serieses. The passing of Takahashi-san was a complete shock to me, and it's a great loss.
Takahashi-san was a true legend. He created something amazing, and has left behind an incredible legacy. And although he's passed on, in a way he shall never die, as a little bit of him remains in the characters he created, and the game he made.
In honour of him, I'm changing my username from Cookie-chan to Legends Never Die, as a sign that Takahashi-san still lives in his characters, in his game, and in our hearts. Thank you, Takahashi-san, for giving us something great
