          “I never thought it would end like this.” with my hand pressed against the cold window of the ship. The fog on the window quickly disappeared and the second of warmth of my breath faded.
          ***
          In the distance, a mother of her feathery children soared through the fiery horizon. As I cast my eyes down towards the tiny people below I couldn’t help but crack a smile on the corner of my mouth, “I never thought it would end like this.”  
          
          (In context if u didnt figure it out the world is ending- and at the end humanity is rebuilding itself after the disasters and hardships)

So like in my crew’s dnd campaign, out characters are meant to die, so we give dead people these stories as a compensation for their short time in the game.
