I just updated The Shadows of Starlight, but not with a new chapter. Instead I shared the first chapter of The Blood of Darkness’s rewrite.
          
          I will be taking a break from writing The Shadows of Starlight so I can focus on rewriting The Blood of Darkness. I have been saving up money to publish tbod and finishing the rewrite is the next step toward that. I don’t plan on writing more of tsos until I finish the rewrite, though if inspiration strikes and I do end up writing another chapter, I will definitely post it on here (I enjoy writing tsos so much and want to finish it so badly, but I also really want to pursue my dreams of publishing, especially at this time in my life where I have more time to write than I’ll likely have a year from now). 
          
          But I wanted to share the first chapter of the rewrite with you all as a thank-you and an apology about leaving you hanging with tsos. 
          
          Before you read, I want to let you know that there will be some changes in the rewrite compared to the original draft. The characters are aged up (Val and Kye are 19). The tone will be darker, the content a bit more graphic (like tsos levels). There will be more of the Occisor and a focus on his and Val’s relationship. There will be some changes to Kye’s backstory to make it a bit more compelling, and changes to what he’s up to in the beginning of the book. There will also be changes to Val’s backstory regarding how she met Vance and what happened when Rurik invaded Nieves. Also, the romance between Kye and Val will be less tropey/cringy and just all-around better; there’ll be a lot of new scenes between them. Oh and the Dark King is now the Rot King (referring to how Rurik is rotted) since I worry the Dark King is too cliche.
