@anthropologie Defend has 32 votes - but one person used both his/her votes to vote for her twice, which I'm not sure if you count that. If not, them it'd be 31.

          that sounds like a good idea, but it's really hard to type the names in individually, you know? but i like the idea of the more than 5k, because you're right, i mean you advertise for defend all the time, but it's mostly the 10k+ people who have the influxes of fans and votes for them

          and i really like what you are doing! i also like the idea of only having people with less than 1k fans. i personally know people who deserve this award but only have like 100 or 200 fans. 

no, do something like more than 5k bc even at 1.5k no one listens to me.
          maybe allow them to advertise that there is an author of the month, but not mention themselves? that seems more fair.

          make it so that there's like a survery monkey poll so that people can't vote from more than one account
          that would make it more accurate

          it's still very iffy, but if you have more than 1k fans, you cannot advertise yourself or another user. it's not at all fair to authors who have very little fans, but are brilliant. i want this to be about discovery, not about popularity. 
          but, if i do this, last month's winner (and possibly this month's) will no longer be considered winners, as they did both. 

W A R N I N G 
          there will be some serious rule changes for next month. something concerning a group of users is completely unfair, and i'm thinking of disqualifying them for this month.
