NOTES:
            — ash's mainship is with betty silva  (@fireplaceashes-)  BUT she is bisexual and i do selectively allow further ships with chemistry.
            — she is also tied incredibly closely with cassandra altieri / @Iuxsolaris  :'))  that’s her baby sister!!!   basically biological at this point  <3
            — in terms of canon characters, ash is closest to dustin & eddie. she has a squabble-based sibling relationship with steve  (you'd think they actually despised each other the way they go on), and really grows to appreciate nancy through seasons 4 & 5. 
            — as well as being an artist  (mainly pencil sketches & chalk)  and poet, ash also writes songs. there's a fine line between her lyrics and poetry, with her style being that of ethel cain & paris paloma.

EPILOGUE — this empire belongs to me, leave it with me.
            after the time jump, we meet ash inviting the party to come to her art show, which doubles as a book-signing for the poetry anthology she has self-published. she and hop have gotten closer, and he's the closest she’s ever been to a parental figure. she cheers the kids on at graduation and then goes to the roof with steve, robin & jonathan to celebrate and reminisce.

SEASON FIVE — i'm just mad as hell 'cause i loved this place.
            originally, ash's dad had a bigger storyline in season four. but, it makes most sense narratively to push it into season five and give her a slightly bigger role. she keeps writing and drawing as usual, her trailer got destroyed so she lives in WSQK headquarters in a little nook behind a shelf. she's trying to get through to dustin while he isolates himself due to grief, but as the plot thickens and the government's plans come to fruition, kali reveals to ash that her dad has been working alongside dr kay.   all his life, all the time he left ash to fend for herself and learn how to live without a dad, he was helping to hurt little kids. dr kay discovered him through some espionage. most scientists who worked under brenner were dead or completely off the grid. dr oberon, however, didn't remove himself from the cause.
            so, ash comes face to face with her dad for the first time in about a decade. so she ends up being with hopper, el & kali this time around. and eventually, when ash comes to blows with her dad after they discover all of the pregnant women, she kills him with a single bullet to the heart. she falls back into hopper's arms after her dad's body drops to the floor.
            nonetheless, she reunites with the others for the final battle and helps them win.

            well, you know me. i don't tend to mix well with social situations but…  i can make my exceptions.   [  a small smile does now tug at the corner of her mouth, and she leans forward to nudge his arm with her own. ]    careful, you’re gonna turn into a tree with all that sap.
