Machi spared a glance towards Kalluto, trying to form a conversation. She parted her mouth, a bit, her voice coming out. "When's your birthday, kiddo?" She crossed her arms, leaning against the wall. Kalluto had returned the stare. "..I believe I do not remember." He broke the stare he was holding, hugging his knees. Machi was shocked. A kid who doesn't remember his birthday? That's weird. Kids are usually very excited and updated about their birthdays. "What do you mean you do not remember?" She straightened her posture, raising a brow. "My birthday was forgotten, it has always been a useless thing to celebrate. Unless it's Killua's, I think. That's the only thing I remember of 'birthdays.' Kalluto mumbled. The girl felt bad for the kid.
"Then, let's create a birthday. What date do you like the most?" She suggested. Kalluto however, thought that was illegal. "Are you sure? Isn't it-" , "No it isn't, stop worrying so much!" She groaned. Kalluto gulped, eyes glued to the floor. "...I suppose.. August 20th? I like how it sounds." He let his knees go, sitting down properly and fixing his posture.
"Okay, August 20th it is." She stood up, looking around the room to see everyone chatting. She inhaled before yelling her lungs out, "LISTEN UP EVERYONE, KALLUTO NOW HAS A BIRTHDAY AND IT'S AUGUST 20TH. SHIZUKU, YOU BETTER WRITE THAT DOWN!" She screamed. Kalluto felt as his cheeks heated up, shaking his head furiously. "No!- stop that!" He said, embarrassed. As soon as he saw everyone writing it down, he felt anxious. It was his first time having people care for his birthday. He was.. happy? Yes, happy. Machi scoffed, parting her hands and squatting down to his height, inviting him to her embrace. Kalluto couldn't help but fight the tears trying to spill, hugging her tightly.
This was going to end well.
