this might be controversial but i'm not upset about ariana grande not being nominated for an oscar. don't get me wrong, she did great as glinda and no one could have done it better than her but i strongly believe that the oscar is an award for outstanding performances.
there was nothing outstanding about ariana as glinda simply because this was typecasting 101. ariana tends to end up in these roles. the presumably ditzy, high-pitched, over-exaggerated girl and i wish so deeply that directors would offer her something more out of that particular region. i'm glad that she received the role but i believe that it is time for her to let go of the image that wicked gave her and grasp onto other things because she is 100% a talented actress. i'm excited to see what she'll do in the future.
