With the recent election in the UK, I feel like I need to say something. Please do not read if this subject upsets you.
Liz Truss was recently voted as the next Prime Minister. For those who do not know who she is, Truss is a Conservative party member (now leader), replacing Boris Johnson.
Several members of her "new" government are against same-sex marriage and trans rights. Truss herself is against trans rights, not seeing trans women as women.
The UK is entering a dark age. A lot of members of the LGBTQIA+ community, myself included, are scared for what this means for us, and our rights.
Conservative members are calling for a ban in same-sex marriage, the teaching of LGBTQIA+ topics in schools, a ban on conversion therapy for transgender individuals, a ban on members of the LGBTQIA+ community in hotels and bars, etc.
I personally am not an expert on politics, nor am I wanting to get into it (the government, in all honesty, is in shambles). What I do know, however, is that these revelations will not stop us from being who we are. No matter what they try to do, they will never stop us from being who we are. We are people too!
For anyone who has got this far, I thank you for taking the time to read this.
