To The Fading Star. [Short story] [1/2]
Hey. Yes you. I see your light is fading, huh? Me too, buddy. Lisen, before you go, I want to tell you something. Or rather, thank you. Thank you for all the times I could come to you and feel comforted, for all the times I felt safe, for all the long nights and precious memories I hold so dear to my heart, the endless nights, the most wonderful experiences I've had under your gaze. Thank you for the memories, happy times and amazing moments you have created for others. Not only do I thank you, but so does the other stars. For sticking with them for so long, for not abandoning them when they needed you the most.
They thank you for lighting up the sky every night in massive unison with the sparkling moon and twinkling stars. They thank you for having the strength you hold deep within and for your bravery. I am deeply grateful for you always being there with me through the hardest of times when I thought I couldn't stand on my own two feet anymore. Thank you for making me feel safe when I thought I couldn't, for keeping me company when everyone else left, for lighting up the darkest of nights when the darkness was all over, threatening to consume every last bit of sanity I had left. I stand here, on this cold October night, watching a fading star, a shimmering light, an old friend, a fallen soldier, saying it's last goodbyes as I close my eyes.
