The dog park wasn’t somewhere he expected to spend his Sunday morning, but Atlas had other ideas. The old rescue mutt had wandered off with surprising confidence, making friends wherever he went. Santiago finally caught up to him, only to find his dog sitting happily beside a complete stranger. He rubbed a hand over the back of his neck.

“I should probably apologise,” he said, looking between them and the dog. “He has absolutely no sense of personal boundaries” his eyes drifted to Atlas, who seemed entirely unbothered.

“Should I be concerned that he walked past thirty other people to sit next to you… or do you just have one of those faces dogs trust?”

[ Lucian sat in his chair, fully immersed in his next mission, pen twirling lazily between his fingers as his eyes moved over the tablet and scattered papers. His focus was sharp until it briefly drifted. His gaze shifted to the person beside him, who had fallen asleep, their head tilted back against the edge of the chair. For a moment, Lucian’s concentration broke, a quiet smile forming as he simply watched them rest. ]

a smile stretched wide across his face as he was lifted up , softening when he was settled on to the bed. he looked up at lucian with a tenderness he never bothered to keep hidden. his affection for lucian had been something he laid bare from day one.

he followed lucian with his eyes as he pulled away , instinctively reaching out for him. he settled down when the man merely took a seat , but he still went out of his way to clasp on to his hand. his hold was gentle but possessive , matching just about every other action tomoki made towards the other.

"I don't think until sunrise will be enough .. " he voiced quietly — almost afraid to break the soft atmosphere they had created.

"I think I'll need you for a lifetime. then the nightmares will never come back." how could they , when lucian was so close? within arms reach and willing to stay.

tomoki didn't even think a lifetime would be enough. he was greedy and wanted more than life could physically allow. he wanted time to stop , just so his moments with lucian wouldn't be limited.

[ Lucian’s breath hitched slightly as Tomoki’s fingers raked through his hair, a sensation so far removed from the violence his life usually held. He let out a low, grounding exhale, his forehead resting against Tomoki’s for a fleeting second before he pulled back just enough to look at him. His dark eyes, usually sharp and scanning for threats, were now heavy with a quiet, fierce protectiveness. ]

" You're getting bold, demanding a lift, " [ He murmured, though there was no bite in his words. Instead, a small, barely-there tug of a smile ghosted his lips. With effortless strength, he shifted, one arm sliding under Tomoki’s knees and the other securing his back as he stood from the desk chair. ]

" And don't be ridiculous. I'm not going anywhere. I’ll stay until the sun comes up if that’s what it takes to keep the nightmares away. " [ Lucian moved through the dim shadows of the hallway with the silent, predatory grace of a man who had spent his life in the dark. But as he entered the bedroom, his movements became intentionally slow, almost cautious. He leaned down, his muscles tensing slightly as he lowered Tomoki onto the mattress, ensuring the transition was as seamless as possible so as not to break the spell of the other's drowsiness. ]

[ As Tomoki’s weight settled into the sheets, Lucian didn’t immediately pull away. Instead, he remained hovered over him for a heartbeat, his hands lingering on the mattress on either side of Tomoki’s head. The orange light from the distant desk lamp barely reached here, leaving his features carved in deep, soft shadows. He reached out, his calloused thumb brushing a stray lock of hair away from Tomoki’s forehead with a gentleness that contradicted the scars on his knuckles. ]

" There, " [ He whispered, his voice a low vibration in the quiet room. He began to pull back just enough to sit on the edge of the bed, his gaze fixed on Tomoki with an intensity that promised safety. ]

tomoki let out a content sound as lucian curled around him. he didn't mind the tightened grip , nor did he didn't comment on the shift in lucian's tone. this was a rare soft moment that he would do anything to extend. it had taken awhile to simplement touch into their complex relationship. tomoki , despite how much he loved to press lucian's buttons , would never dream of doing something to ruin the luxury lucian was allowing him.

tomoki let out a happy sound at lucian's suggestion. he was completely content and serious about dozing in lucian's lap , but pulling the man away from his work to sleep comfortably was a win tomoki wouldn't deny.

with a gentle hand , tomoki raked his fingers through lucian's hair. he brushed his lips briefly over lucian's cheek — a barely there touch — as a small sign of his gratitude. while the offer may seem small , tomoki understood the weight behind it.

"carry me?" he questioned with a light smile. he hated the thought of parting for lucian , even if it was only for a short trip to the bedroom.

"and .. only until I fall asleep? not after?" his question was light — quietly vulnerable. a silent request for lucian to stay with him longer.
