Hey everyone! I know many of you are required by your governments to social distance and stay at home due to COVID-19, & I'm sure some of you are weary of doing so (I am!). However, I want you to remember that the orders are for everyone's protection, not just yours.
I have an autoimmune disease, so right now I must be very careful of any physical contact with the world beyond my four walls. Nobody in my household has traveled beyond our mailbox, nor have we allowed anyone who doesn't live with us to enter our home, for 16 days and counting. When we do go outside to walk in our yard, we do so at night, because that's often the only time when no one else is out. Also, after research and a talk with my Dr, I'm halting my immune med temporarily, for the risk from COVID > the risk from a disease flare.
When I see people in my neighborhood interacting at distances < 6 ft (& some experts say that 6 ft may be too close) or leaving to go somewhere that's likely nonessential, it angers me. Why? Because I & my family are obeying our state's stay-at-home order—even going beyond—& too many other people don't care at all. These orders have been instituted for the public good, and IMO, the orders shouldn't even be necessary because people should have enough common sense and courtesy to social distance by their own choice during this pandemic.
I don't mean to be preachy, but compliance with the government mandates is important for everyone's health, & can literally be a matter of life and death for those with chronic medical conditions, including myself. But don't just take my word for it; here are a few videos about people with chronic medical conditions highlighting the importance of everyone making sacrifices to #keepusallsafe.
