I’ve witnessed many new Directioners get backlash for not knowing absolutely everything about One Direction. Being called ‘Directionators’ and ‘not real fans.
          It saddens me, that long term Directioners would treat others like that, when they started just the same way. If you’re new to this fandom and have undergone this or something similar, even if you haven’t, from an experienced Directioner, let me tell you this.
          
          It’s okay to not know the Best Song Ever mv dialogue by heart.
          
          I myself only know fragments of it.
          
          It’s okay to not know all the boy’s birthdays.
          
          Sometimes I forget, but I’m also a dumbass.
          
          It’s okay to not understand all the references.
          
          I learn new things about them all the time.
          
          It’s okay to not know all the songs.
          
          I discovered new songs, pretty late.
          
          It’s okay to not know about all their past and current relationships.
          
          You might feel confused, you might get puzzled when other Directioners make jokes, you might feel pressured to know everything immediately.
          It can sometimes be discouraging.
          But..
          Take your time.
          I took mine, and it worked out just fine. Don’t be afraid or ashamed  to ask questions.
          
          What makes you a Directioner, isn’t the fact that you get all the inside jokes, that you know insignificant details about the lads, or that you know all the lyrics to their songs.
          
          If I learn every equation that has ever existed, does that make me a mathematician ?
          If I swim in a pool every day, does that make me an olympic swimmer ?
          No, it doesn’t.
          Same thing applies here.
          What makes you a Directioner.
          Is that you respect the boys.
          That you don’t hate on any other fandoms.
          That you respect the community you are undoubtedly a part of.
          Is not the superficial aspect of ‘having knowledge’.
          Most of us are nice, because we were taught to treat ppl with kindness.
          What makes you a true Directioner.
          Is your respect, love and loyalty.
          
          We are a family, and don’t you ever forget that.
          
          We will always be a family.
