She Deserves to Be Happy
I chose him over her,
knowing well my soul belonged to her name.
Love, fierce as a raging tide,
yet I let it slip, a whisper in the wind.
I thought I could turn away,
that my heart would obey the choice I made.
But it clung to her like a fading echo,
refusing to surrender, refusing to forget.
Then I saw her—hand in hand,
laughter lighting her lips like a dawn I once dreamed.
And something inside me cracked,
a silent shatter only love can carve.
Is this the ache she bore when I walked away?
Did her chest tighten, did her breath shake?
Did she drown in echoes of a name
that no longer belonged to her?
Now I know love does not break,
it lingers, it haunts, it carves its name in bone.
She deserves joy, a love unchained,
but is it too much to ask
to be the reason she smiles again?
Don’t I deserve a second chance?
