In the heat of the moment, while trying to justify my disappointment, I opened up about my SA incident. I’ve never spoken about it here because I’m not comfortable discussing it, and because I knew I’d be questioned. “How can you write books like this when you’re a victim?” And I was questioned. Speaking up gave me nothing but invalidation. I was triggered then, and I acted on impulse.

But thinking about it now, it genuinely baffles me how the responsibility for violence against women is somehow placed on women who read/write dark romance. Predators don’t need a dark male lead to become predators. They are predators because they choose to be.

I am reading dark rom since 15, written it since 17, and was SA-ed at 19. Trust me, nothing about what happened felt romantic. Fiction and reality are not interchangeable. I know many survivors of SA, grape, DV and molestation who read dark rom and understand that distinction perfectly well.

If the genre triggers you, don’t read it. That’s completely valid. But questioning or shaming someone else for reading/writing it is not. Everyone copes differently to their trauma.

And the “but minors are on this app” argument? I’m not their parent. Parents/guardians are responsible for knowing what their children can access, not authors.

Offline, I actively support women’s rights and have worked on women’s-rights projects through my university diploma. Many of my readers do too. As an author, my responsibility is to make the boundary between fiction and reality clear, and I do. I’ve never met a reader who came away wanting to be stalked, assaulted, or abused in any sense.

Please stop making women responsible for everything that is already being done to us.

@asterrverse I completely agree with you. Being a survivor of SA doesn’t mean you have to consume or create only the kind of fiction that others consider “acceptable.” Fiction is fiction, and enjoying dark romance does not make someone supportive of abuse or violence in real life.

What happened to you was not your fault, and it’s honestly disturbing that people chose to question your interests instead of simply showing you empathy. Survivors deserve compassion, not judgment or accusations.

People cope differently, and nobody gets to dictate how another person processes their trauma. And honestly, predators don’t become predators because someone wrote a dark romance novel. They make their own choices.

You shouldn’t have had to defend yourself for something that was done to you . ❤️
"Do my, do my ladies run this, ladies run this?"

@asterrverse I just checked her board and lol she is telling that she'll report the books again! like she is being paid for it. I can't understand what is the problem with her. Like if she doesn't like you using jks name in your books , why can't she just fvck off. It's her problem, not yours and you have mentioned it in your warnings clearly, it is for MATURE PEOPLE!!!

I'm so sorry... I know words won't justify what u felt but I really hope that u overcome whatever fear u felt and still feeling..... And about that controversy it's none of ur fault u were just sharing ur opinion just like everyone else but some of these shitheads who think that bts are God who can't do anything wrong it's their fault... I hope u don't burn ur passion just because of some dickheads who can't even take criticism when their favourite did something wrong I'm saying this as a bts fan I have been listening to them for over a decade now.... Aster we all love you stay strong and healthy ✨

Aster, I hope you’re doing well. I’ve seen some of the commotion going on, and I just hope you don’t let it get to you.

There’s just one thing I want you to remember, and hopefully it will help you: just do you. We can’t please everyone. People have different beliefs, different perspectives, and different ways of thinking, and sometimes we simply won’t understand each other.

No matter what you do, people will always have something to say or judge you for. So, at some point, you just have to stop listening to them and stop letting their opinions affect you and just keep doing what feels right for you.

I’ve lived that way most of my life, and honestly, I’m doing fine. So don’t let the noise take away your peace. Keep being yourself and live your life the way you want to. ❤️❤️❤️

I'm so sorry for ur incident aster this is truly really sad and I think fictions that u write also gives us happiness so I don't think we have any rights to question it when you were only just giving us a piece of yourself . You're really the strongest one if you ever feel like coming back you come back or not it's your choice

I'm literally on cloud nine seeing you back... Welcome back, girl, and please don't let those worms get to you. If they can't mind their own damn business, we'll remind them how to...

You are genuinely so brave for going through all of that, and no one has the right to question, judge, or invalidate what you've experienced. They don't know you, they don't know what you've been through, and they don't even know you IRL, so who tf gave them the authority to act like they do????

People who spend their time bitching about others eventually get their karma. I just hope you stay strong and don't let their pathetic, shitty words get to you. Let them crawl around on the ground while we simply step over them.

I've genuinely never spoken this harshly, but after reading about everything you've gone through and then seeing that they still had the audacity to question you... like gurl what?? You are not srs, man...The audacity is sponsored by absolutely no shame..

They have the EQ of a wet sock and the morals of the fucking reincarnation of Satan.

Like, who the hell do you think you are to question people who have gone through assault? Sit your stinky old ass down, shut tf up, and learn some basic human decency. You are not entitled to anyone's story, explanation, or pain....

Anyway, welcome back brotato... You survived all that bullshit, and their nasty words don't get to define you. Let them bark from the sidelines while you keep moving forward...And I hope you are doing great...

IM GENUINELY SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU BACKK T-T Thank you for coming back. And please, PLEASE don’t let those turnip-head wannabe critics get to you, these professional yappers are not worth even a second of your attention. Your writing, your stories, and the way you make people feel are worth so much more than whatever nonsense they have to say. Just keep doing what you do best and let the walking Ls stay bothered. We’re just happy to have our favourite author back ( especially me, I'm crying khusi k ansu )✨
