@S0ft0n3 Hello!! Thank you so much for reading Rapunzel! And thank you for all your kind words! I'm so glad you picked up on Miki's more intelligent side. She is her mother's daughter, haha! In all honesty, I'm pretty glad some readers find parts of Miki's character annoying. A friend once told me that just like how some people don't mesh in real life, not everyone is going to gel with every character. And just like how we love our friends, we will always have things we find frustrating about them. It makes her realistic, which is a huge win in my eyes. Miki's mental and Yuzuru's stance on everything is something explored in the final five chapters. But if you want my opinion on Yuzuru and what went through my head when writing him: I mostly tried to follow what Bisco Hatori (the creator of OHSHC) said in an Q&A about his character, where he is an adult that still messes up. Yuzuru is a bit of a coward, and someone who, despite his age and individual achievements, still wants his mother's approval. After the death of her husband, Shizue single-handedly raised both Yuzuru and the Suoh cooperation to the place it is today. He greatly respects her, and wants her to acknowledge his capabilities. This includes choosing a wife for himself. That's why he doesn't say anything about Anne-Sophie to Tamaki, because he is hoping that Tamaki will grow and improve with the motivation of seeing his mother again, he will eventually win Shizue's favor and acknowledgment that Anne-Sophie wasn't a bad wife and mother to his child. Miki, on the other hand, is a physical manifestation of his mother's distrust towards him. If Miki's flashbacks wasn't clear, he neglected her a lot in her childhood. At first it was out of that bitter taste seeing her left, but at some point he realized that Miki was just like him. Just a child who wanted to be loved and acknowledged by her parent. Then that bitterness turned to guilt.
I'd love to see how you feel about the rest of the story!!
