My name is Astro Atoms and I have been a drama teacher in Houston, TX for the past decade with my M.A. in English & Creative Writing.

My writing has taken me to the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., Off-Broadway in NYC, Broadwayworld.com in Houston TX, the New Orleans International Fringe Festival, and sixteen publications on two different continents (USA & UK). I am all over the map. And genre? Don't get me started. I've published plays, academic research articles, magazine articles, and lengthy theatrical monologues. Chaotic.
And that's exactly how I want it to remain.
One thing I've learned is that nothing is off limits until you handcuff yourself to a genre. I can't do that to myself. I can't just be a poet, a screenwriter, or a novelist. I can't just write mystery thrillers or Broadway reviews. I want a little bit of it all.

I want my passion to take me where my voice can roar. I want to see a news bulletin on poor Guatemalan education standards and move there for a decade to be a speech writer for a local politician who could cause radical change. I want to read something in the New York Times about children's poetry classes being cut due to lack of funding and write a plan to save the program and submit it to the school board. I want to write a song for the Dixie Chicks. I want to write children's poetry that encourages inner city kids to never give up. I want to encourage my students to bloom where they are planted. I want to write for Pixar, Disney (again), and land a #1 book on the New York Times Bestseller List. I want my passion to take my writing voice wherever it wants to go.

I want to change the world from Microsoft Word.
