  i  haven't  been  able  to  sleep,  at  all.  i  feel  even  more  sensitive  than  i  do  normally.  ⁽  he'd  rub  at  his  forehead,  groaning  softly  under  his  breath.  ⁾

  ⁽  dennis  had  been  dealing  with  this  since  his  third  eye  practically  opened  at  5.  the  stutter  wouldn't  be  noticed  and  no  attention  would  be  drawn  to  it.  ⁾  sometimes.  it  depends  on  the  day  and  how  much  of  these  i  have.  ⁽  he'd  pull  out  an  orange  pill  bottle  and  shake  it  around.  ⁾

His dark eyes were fixed on the man.  "Th-that's no good." He said, unable to suppress his stutter any longer. "C-can anything b-be done?"

  ⁽  the  voice  would  be  heard  from  his  right,  his  head  turning  really  quickly.  so  quickly  it  made  the  pain  in  his  neck  so  much  worse  as  he  hissed  and  rubbed  it.  ⁾  you  get  used  to  it  after  awhile.  or  you  should.  ⁽  slowly  he  sat  himself  down  on  the  ground. ⁾  unfortunately  this  is  part  of  my  routine  if  you  can  believe  it.

            Grace’s gaze softened, though the corners of her mouth lifted in a wry, almost teasing smile. “I know that weight… far too well,” she murmured, letting the words brush against him like a caress. “It shapes you, isolates you… makes you think no one could ever understand. But sometimes, the ones who bear it willingly aren’t weak… they’re the only ones strong enough to do it.” Her eyes flickered down to the space between them before returning to his, Grace didn’t step closer. She stood perfectly still, letting the air between them thrum with expectation. Her eyes held his, steady and unflinching, a silent challenge wrapped in silk. Finally, her voice cut through the quiet, soft but impossible to ignore.
            
             “Help… get me out of here, please.”

  ⁽  when  grace  stepped  just  slightly  closer  he  kept  his  eyes  on  her,  just  to  make  sure  she  didn't  end  up  brushing  him.  his  head  was  already  pounding  anyway,  no  need  to  add  to  that  by  her  accidentally  brushing  against  him.  their  eyes  met  and  his  eyes  flickered  down  to  the  space between  them.  ⁾  then  you  do  understand.  the  only  people  who  see  what  i  do  market  off  of  it  and  i  don't  have  much  of  a  choice.  but  if  anyone  should  be  stuck  with  it  i  guess  it's  me,  huh.ᐣ  i  sometimes  know  how  to  handle  it.  ⁽  a  smile  was  offered  in  return,  albeit  a  weary  one  that  didn't  make  his  dimples  pop  like  a  legitimate  one  did  it  was  an  attempt.  ⁾

            Grace steps just a fraction closer, her voice dropping to a quiet, almost reverent tone.“I might not live it like you do… but I know what it feels like to carry something heavy that nobody else sees” she murmurs, letting her gaze linger.
            A faint, bittersweet smile curls her lips.“Even if there’s risk… even if it costs more than we think… sometimes holding on to the pieces we still have… makes it worth it right?”

   his  heart  was  pounding,  palms  sweaty  and  he  felt  like  he  might  pass  out  or  vomit.  or  both.  dennis  tried  hard  to  reel  in  his  power  but  it  took  a  toll  on  him.  it  physically  HURT  when  spirits  brushed  him.  when  he  got  flashed  of  their  pain.  but  this  one  was  not  like  the  others.  oh  god  no.  he'd  stumble  back  immediately,  his  legs  trembling  as  he  let  out  frantic  huffs.  "  happy  thoughts  clear  ..  clear  the  mind.  butterflies  uh  AUGH  HOLY  —  ”  he  collapsed  and  writhed  in  pain  as  he  struggled  to  back  up  further.
