You know how Sunset is reformed right, she was the antagonist at first and Princess Twilight gave her a second chance to redeem herself and learn the Magic of Friendship, and that made herself who she is now. Sunset Shimmer, The Element of Empathy.
Sunset was heartwarmed that Princess Twilight gave her a second chance, and had feelings for her ever since.
Sci-Twilight, she was bullied and was considered an “out-cast” in her old school, Crystal-Prep. But she was intelligent, and that was why people didn’t like her. (In the Friendship Games) She wanted to learn about magic and was interested by it, but almost hurted alot of people in the process.
Sci-Twi was pressured and manipulated by Principal Cinch, to release the magic that she had caught. Resulting her to become a creature called “Midnight Sparkle”.
Sunset, The Element of Empathy: wanted to give Twilight a second chance and made her realize that the magic isn’t worth turning evil.
Sunset then defeated Twilight and gave her a second chance, and Twilight gained feelings for Sunset ever since.

Sunset and Sci-Twi are soon dating, but Sunset finds it hard to return her love to Sci-Twi because well, she’s clueless that she loves the PONY Twilight, not the HUMAN Twilight. If Princess Twilight and Sci-Twi are supposed to be the same person.
Why does it feel so different? Why does Sunset find it hard to return her love for Sci-Twi? Why..?
Conclusion is: Princess Twilight gave Sunset a second chance, she gained feelings. Sunset gave Sci-Twi a second chance, she also gained feelings. And the cycle continues.
