I write under the pen name Calyx Lucen. I'm a Filipino writer, romance enthusiast, and lifelong storyteller. Born in Manila but raised in Batangas, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Lyceum of the Philippines University - Batangas in 2001.

By day, I work in one of the Philippines' major shipping companies, where I've spent 20 years building my career from Maintenance Clerk to Operations Supervisor. By night, I immerse myself in writing, exploring worlds of first love, heartbreak, and hope.

My passion for writing began in sixth grade, capturing the innocence and intensity of young love. Writing has always been my refuge - a way to ease stress and enter my own world. I first shared my work publicly in 2012 under the pen name Selena Arcangel on Internetserye and Wattpad. Since then, my stories have reached a wider audience, including A Love Story in Sagada, which was published by Bookware Publishing in 2013. 

For personal reasons, I eventually set writing aside for more than ten years to focus on my family and career, deactivating my accounts on online reading platforms. 

Recently, my article was published in Memento's February 2026 issue, themed "Love Lost: Navigating Heartbreak and Healing," under Scribblory. In the second quarter of 2026, my novel Jagger's Hope was also published by a different publishing house, marking another significant milestone in my writing journey. I also received my Certificate of Registration as an Author/Writer from the National Book Development Board, further affirming my growth and journey as a published writer.
