I write under the pen name Calyx Lucen. I'm a Filipino writer, romance enthusiast, and lifelong storyteller. I was born in Manila, and I now live in Batangas City with my husband and child. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Lyceum of the Philippines University - Batangas in 2001.

By day, I work in one of the Philippines' major shipping companies, where I've spent 19 years building my career from Maintenance Clerk to Operations Supervisor. By night, I immerse myself in writing, exploring worlds of first love, heartbreak, and hope.

My passion for writing began in sixth grade, capturing the innocence and intensity of young love. Writing has always been my refuge-a way to ease stress and enter my own world. I first shared my work publicly in 2012 under the pen name Selena Arcangel on Internetserye and Wattpad. Since then, my stories have reached a wider audience: A Love Story in Sagada was published by Bookware Publishing in 2013, and my story Jagger's Hope was included in the self-publishing collaboration Hearts of Love.

For personal reasons, I eventually set writing aside for more than ten years to focus on my family and career, and I deactivated my accounts on online reading platforms. This year, however, I met someone who reignited my inspiration and reminded me of the joy writing brings to my life. Because of that encouragement, I am returning to my love for storytelling with gratitude and renewed passion.

Today, as Calyx Lucen-a name that means "the light that emerges from protection" or "new beginnings blossoming into illumination"-I continue to write romance novels that explore love, healing, and human connection. Outside of writing, I enjoy reading, photography, music, movies, and traveling.
