Where the Sky Stays Wide explores themes of growing up, love, and healing after loss. Throughout the story, readers may encounter moments that touch on grief, the absence of parents, and emotional conversations between young characters navigating complicated feelings. There is also a scene involving a bear encounter that results in injury, though it is handled with care and not graphic in nature. While the heart of this book is about connection, resilience, and quiet strength, it does gently explore the challenges of moving on from the past. Sensitive readers are encouraged to take care as they read.

@autrytonic • blurb • Before the heartbreak. Before the distance. Before, they knew what love truly meant. In the quiet stretch of spring at Beecher’s Hope, fifteen-year-old Jack Marston and twelve-year-old Viola Morgan find something rare in one another—peace, understanding, and the kind of bond that only grows in the stillness between shared books, whispered stories, and soft glances beneath wide-open skies. Viola, the orphaned daughter of Arthur Morgan and Kimberly Autry, has spent the last two years trying to belong in a world built on someone else’s roots. Jack, still reeling from loss, sees in her the fire and calm he’s been searching for. But the past has long shadows, and the future is already pulling Viola in a different direction. As the days stretch longer and the weight of growing up settles heavy on their shoulders, both will have to face the truth: Not all love stays. Not all goodbyes are spoken. This is the story of first love, found and left behind beneath a sky that never stopped watching
