This may be a little controversial but...
          	
          	Can we talk about the fact that in 90% of dark harry fics the original female character has an abusive ex-boyfriend?
          	Like is that a trope now? 
          	Because it sort of bothers me
          	Because then harry will go around for about 10 chapters trying to kill this man. Which is great and hot - but it's sort of annoying. 
          	And the original female character is always like “no harry don’t hurt him”
          	It's now a thing for the girl to have an abusive-small dick- ex-boyfriend.
          	Examples: Jake from kiwi, Andy from stall, Ryan from duplicity, Bryce from perspective, Jax from full-throttle, Lennon from jumpstart... I could go on.

@come_on_babbyyy28 exactly my point i love this. because they create such a dark, traumatized and broken harry they need the oc to have trauma and issues too. so they create this plot of her abusive ex and if its in her pov she'll constantly compare harry to him

@AylaDare i love that! it creates such a stereotype of overprotective harry fics. I just wish writers wouldn't normalize the oc having an abusive ex, and then not letting harry become "violent"

@averyspedding I dont really understand why its necessary but maybe it's to show that theres some type of good in the dark characters. But mainly I just think they couldn't come up with anything that will tie them together in the same way something traumaticlike that could. Also it's like they need something to compare harry to. Showing that he has issues but hes 100x better then her ex.

I mean I understand what you’re saying but there’re books out there that aren’t like that specifically Harry fanfics if I didn’t redesign my library I would gladly send them to you. Then again yes I know what you mean.

@Bankrolle yea for sure there are books that don't have the "abusive ex-boyfriend" trope... I just see it as a popular plot line now and it bothers me that part of their female oc is having an abusive ex as a personality trait
