Not an update, but a logistical-ish question for Heartbeat readers - same 'story' or different 'books'? Bear with me, here.

The current Heartbeat is technically both book 1 and 2 (I've called them 'parts' before). With book 1 ending at Judge and Book 2 starting with the chapter 'Human.'

My brain is trying to convince me to move all the chapters from Book 2 (again, from Human onward) into a new 'Book' (like visually on Wattpad, a separate story or whatever it's called). Then, making another new one for Book 3.
The idea being that breaking them apart might give me some air to breathe to get this next part into gear.

I am 100% overthinking, so I'm taking the decision to you guys. Any preferences? I've sometimes loved 50+ chapters in one 'Book,' but it can be exciting to break them up.

We'll see what happens with part three, but in the meantime, wanted to see if anyone has some thoughts on this :) I can definitely clarify in the comments too.

Also I've re-re-updated the end of the last chapter with 4 new lines. Don't go back to read them if you haven't yet, it'll be too whelming till I get the new ending up. Seriously.

          	Anyways, cheers!

Hi! So glad to hear that you’re continuing the story. Reading is my safe space, and it’s been a joy reading your book. I think you should keep book 1&2 together, and do a separate book for book 3. Idk if you have, I can double check, but maybe rename the title “Human” to Book 2, or “Human:Book 2”, something like that, so readers know where the new book starts. The chapters blend so well, I wouldn’t break it up. That way for book 3, it feels more “fresh” and like a new turning point in the book! I hope this made sense! -Naomi :)

I love when books have 50+ chapters, if anything I’m more likely to read something if it’s really long but it’s also fun to have it in separate books. whatever you choose will be great!

@randomreader000000 Definitely agree, I think I've given up searching sometimes for that reason. 200 chapters would be CrAzY, no way haha but this is a very good point, thank you

Heartbeat Update: I'll preface with saying I don't want to get anyone's hopes up and I can't commit to anything.

Firstly, for anyone that literally started reading Heartbeat within the last twenty-four hours and were very close to the end, I apologize for the timing of what I've done. Which was deleting the last 7 1/2 chapters of Heartbeat (book 2). You can finish reading the original story on fanfiction.net and archive of our own. Start with chapter - Endearment.

What I can say, is that the end of Endearment was cut and updated to reflect changes I'm considering to the end of book 2 to better set up for book 3. At this point, I think some of you may know and remember the story better than me. Details, plot points or drops, quite a few of Chekhov's guns in there. But that's okay.

I need to thank all of you that have left messages on my page and comments on the story. Your support is overwhelmingly heartfelt and I don't think there's anything like it in the world.

Realistic view going forward: The adult world is taking up the majority of my life, and I have no work-life balance, so again, do not get your hopes up. I'd hate to mislead you guys but I truly do want to finish Alec and Saffiya's story. If you get a notification that a new chapter was published on Heartbeat, it will not be new. Not for a while, at least. So you can ignore the notification, it's just me and Wattpad's interface having trouble :)

          With gratitude and hope,
          Ro

Omgggg. I couldn’t believe my eyes for a second. You’re literally one of the very few reasons why I still have this app. I first got into your series in 2023, and I’m so glad to see you’re still with us. I absolutely adore your series, and as someone who’s been a Twilight fan since 2012, and read many fic-stories over the years, yours is by far my favorite! I do hope you complete the next book, or give us a few chapters to wrap up the series at least. I get life can get busy sometimes, so I hope you’re doing well and taking care of yourself!

@awriterwithnostory I screamed when I saw this notification. I am so happy to hear from you after so long!!! I can’t wait to see what you have in store, Heartbeat is genuinely one of THE best twilight fanfics I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I know you said not to get our hopes up but hope is all I have!! No matter how long it takes (though fingers crossed it’s fairly soon) I will await the continuation of this book!! I hope you are doing well :)

Hi Ro,
I still think about Heartbeat every single day. I find myself checking your profile from time to time, hoping that maybe — just maybe — there’s a new update or even just a small message from you. But even when there isn’t, I just want you to know that I’m still here, quietly rooting for you.

Your story means so much to me. It’s one of those works that stays with you long after you’ve read it — the kind that makes you feel deeply and remember why stories matter in the first place. You’ve created something truly special, and I hope one day you find the same spark of inspiration, purpose, and love for writing that Heartbeat has given to so many of us.

Take all the time you need, Ro. We’ll be here when you’re ready — still believing in you, still waiting, and still grateful for the world you’ve built through your words. Best of luck and lovelots.

@Onyxlee_ This broke my heart, and I want you to know how much I appreciated this message. I cannot quite express what this meant to me. I apologize for not responding sooner.

Hi all,

Many of you likely saw this coming before I did. I've tried again and again to keep writing - picking up random scenes or chapters in the last year. But it's finally reached a point where I haven't been able to write anything, let alone for Heartbeat, in a few months.

I do hope I will be able to finish this story one day. To fall in love with reading and writing again. To clean up the plot and put it into words. But for now, I'm putting Heartbeat on hiatus.

I want to thank every single person who continues to comment, reach out, and spark up the inspiration this story needed. Heartbeat would never have gotten this far without you, and I am sorry I won't be able to finish it. At least, for now.

          Thank you for everything.

          Ro

I hope you get time to destress and focus on yourself and your love for reading/writing because that is the most important. It’s totally understandable and happens to everyone! Just focus on yourself with no pressure, I know I’ve been stressed personally when I lose enjoyment in reading/writing. Your story actually helped me work through my own blocks! Take care :)
