I love reading. I get a little harsh sometimes when reviewing stories but please don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to be a mean b*tch. For the most part, I was just reacting honestly. I do not do that to purposely hurt someone's feelings. So if I somehow offended someone with my comments, do forgive me, it was truly not my intention. Anyhow, I'm tempering my comments now. When I get this urge to really pin point every loop hole in a story and basically tear the whole structure down, I take deep breaths and stop myself. I read somewhere that doing harsh reviews like that, no matter how honest and sincere, is like going up to a walking stranger, slapping them in the face and telling them that their choice of clothes is ugly. Obviously, it's plain rude. So yes, the writer may not actually appreciate my honesty and I'm just probably being rude and out of line by giving them. So now, I only comment when I have good things to say. But from time to time, when the stories get too absurd or when they betrayed me big time, I just couldn't help but get a little cranky and let a few honest and harsh words fly here and there >_<. Nevertheless, I can still say that although it may be harsh, it's in no way senseless that is meant to merely hurt and insult, or to make me look cool or what. I see some comments like that, posters whose only goal is to merely insult writers and spout criticism in torrents without really wanting to help and be constructive at all. I don't get the point in that. It's lame and childish.
As much as I can, although I get harsh, I still make sure my comments are constructive in all levels. It was not meant to put the writer down, I would never want that, on the contrary, it was meant to help and point out weaknesses in a story, not to make the writer feel stupid, but to help them see how to make it better. But of course, those are just my subjective opinions of what 'better' construed.
Okay, now I'm ranting.
