PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
After a character has spoken, when a new character starts talking, a new paragraph begins. Without this, the reader can become confused as to who is talking, especially when there is no 'he said/said he' before or after the dialogue.
When the character finishes, that paragraph ends (there are some exceptions to this rule such as when the character is explaining something he said).
EXAMPLES:
"How much of an edge did the boy's warning give you?" Asks Haymitch.
"About ten minutes be fore our own systems would've detected the missiles," says Boggs.
"But it did help, right?" I ask. I can't bear it if he says no.
-Mockingjay, Suzanne Collins
If any of this is confusing, go look at a properly published book (not a self published book; look at something like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson).
Please feel free to copy this and send it to your followers or put it on a book or whatever. Just keep my name on it. :)
