The smell found Lilith first. Blood, obviously, but underneath it was something weird. Something cold. Something that made the tiny hairs on the back of her neck stand up. Which, honestly, was saying a lot considering she was technically a corpse. Curiosity immediately overpowered every survival instinct she possessed as she wandered into the dark alleyway, oversized sweater sleeves swallowing her hands. Up ahead she could barely make out a silhouette hunched over another figure, accompanied by a series of sounds that were definitely not reassuring. Lilith stopped dead in her tracks. “Um…” A grin immediately spread across her face. “Hello? If you’re murdering somebody, this is actually a terrible time because I have, like, a million questions.” Instead of leaving, she took another step closer. “Also, before you answer, just know that if you’re a vampire this is going to be the coolest thing that’s happened to me all month.” She tilted her head, trying and failing to see through the darkness. “Actually, scratch that. If you’re a werewolf, that’s also pretty cool. Demon? Less cool. Ghost? Super cool. Tax collector? Horrifying.” A breathless giggle escaped her. “You smell so weird, by the way. Not bad weird. Fun weird. Like the kind of weird that gets its own episode on a true crime podcast.” She pointed toward the darkness despite not being able to properly see who—or what—was there. “Please tell me you’re something interesting. If you’re just a regular person eating somebody, that’s honestly kind of a letdown.”

( she’s pouts as she struggles to chew through the mac and cheese. it’s not horrible — the blood mixed in helps her swollow it. then it settles and something kicks in, the starving feeling she’s been fighting off takes overs. ximena shoves forks full of pasta into her mouth and through that she turns to aden. ) can i have more of that cholula ? i like [ that ] part.
