" woah woah — relax it's just me , you don't have to take that thing out ( ... ) okay ? "
[ For a silent moment, he doesn't say anything at all. He merely tilts his head up, dark eyes tracing the high ceiling of the dance studio before flickering toward the open window up above, as if gauging the impossibility of his own entrance with quiet amusement. Slowly, he brings his gaze back down to meet hers. His expression softens into something picture perfect and disarmingly innocent, the faint tilt of his head giving him a boyish charm that contrasts entirely with his earlier teasing edge. He scuffs the sole of his shoe against the smooth floor, letting out a soft, breathy huff through his nose. ] " Touché, sweetheart. Guess rules were never really my strong suit anyway. "
[ He lets his hand slip completely into his pocket, his posture remaining deceptively relaxed as he takes a small, deliberate step toward the mirror wall she's standing near. He cocks an eyebrow, dark eyes lingering on her face with a quiet, observant curiosity before a soft, lopsided grin returns to his lips. ] " And for what it's worth ( ... ) startling you wasn't the plan. But since we're both officially on our worst behavior tonight, mind if I stick around until the silence gets a little less loud ? "
@crimsonhour “okay. if a sign says closed, then perhaps you should read it and abide by the rules.” emiko presses her palm to the side of her thigh, an act of brief comfort. she doesn’t step back like she did when they first met when he steps forward. she stays put, refusing to move from her own place of quiet. with a heavy sigh escaping her slightly parted lips, she moves towards the speaker on the stand alongside the wall of mirrors. she’s going to pause the music. “and startling a woman who believed she was alone is a little rude, don’t you think? it seems that we are both not on our best behavior tonight.” with her music paused, and the loudest silence known to mankind filling its place, emiko turns to face him again.
[ A subtle, lopsided smirk tugs at the corner of his lips as he lifts both hands in a mock gesture of surrender, shoulders dropping into a relaxed stance. He lets out a breathy laugh, watching the pocket knife disappear into her sweatpants before resting one hand casually in his pocket, dark eyes glittering with faint amusement. ] " The front lock is an absolute joke, sweetheart. Besides, since when has a 'closed' sign ever kept me out ? " [ He tilts his head, tongue pressing briefly against the inside of his cheek before he takes a slow, unbothered step closer. ] " And for the record ( ... ) pulling a blade on a friendly face is a little dramatic, don't you think ? "
can you teach me how to do that? i danced but– i was never like that.
@adoreaus what type of dance did you do? this way, i may know the best approach to help you learn the different style.
/ comment below for something based on a song in her playlist 😋
" ( … ) you looked like you needed someone to keep up with you , so i did , don’t look at me like that — i was just being nice. "
@crimsonhour emiko stands in the same spot even as he moves to the car, her lips pressing thin as she watches him open his passenger door for her. a gentlemanly move, yes, but it could have been an act. she debates talking herself out of it anyway, but then he says just what she’s thinking. can he really read her that well? she finally takes her steps forward, but she zips up the leather jacket as she makes her way to him. or, more accurately, the passenger side of his vehicle that he held open for her. as soon as her jacket is zipped up all the way, her hands are being shoved into her pockets. she stops just shy of getting in the vehicle, as if her feet don’t want to move. she looks between him and the vehicle for a moment, and then she frowns. “there is nothing wrong with getting ice cream. it’s a treat, and the best way to be in a better mood instantly.” with that, emiko climbs into the car. should she attempt to close her own door or was he going to do that, too? she has no idea what she’s supposed to do in this situation, and that just stresses her out even more than she already is.
[ A quiet, genuine laugh escapes him, his head tilting back slightly before his dark eyes focus back on her with an easy, warm amusement. He runs a hand over the back of his neck, his thumb grazing his jawline as his lips curve into a slow, fond smirk. ] " Fair point. I'll take the loss on that technicality. " [ He turns on his heel and walks over to the passenger side, his movements fluid and unhurried. Pulling the handle, he swings the car door open for her, leaning one forearm casually against the roof of the car as he looks down at her. His expression softens, a subtle, attentive curiosity glinting in his gaze as he cocks an eyebrow. ] " Ice cream ? Out of all the high stakes distractions in the world, that's your price ? " [ A soft chuckle hums in his chest, his posture completely relaxed as he gestures inside with a light nod, his voice dropping into a smoother, grounded murmur. ] " Consider it done. Honestly ? Ask for whatever you want tonight ice cream, a drive to nowhere, whatever and it's yours. " [ He tilts his head slightly, a playful glint lingering in his eyes as he offers a slow, teasing smile. ] " Get in before you change your mind and talk yourself out of it. "
@crimsonhour “just because we bump into each other so many times that it drives me insane doesn’t mean we aren’t strangers,” she chides. her arms cross over her chest, like a shield from the world or from him. which one it is, she’s not sure, but she can’t take any chances. she raises a brow at his comment, and then she chuckles. it’s quiet, a soft sound despite her body still refusing to relax. “you know that offering to distract me would classify as helping me, right? i mean, you /literally/ just offered to help me and then you’re saying you didn’t. make up your mind, would you?” when her laugh dies, they’re left in just the silence of the night. she contemplates the offer of a distraction, even if she doesn’t know how to not look over her shoulder. her teeth chew on her bottom lip, fangs brushing against the soft flesh. “if i accept your proposal, can we get ice cream?” she doesn’t want to think about potentially opening up to someone. that didn’t seem likely, but the least she can do is agree to this stupid thing. it was either do that, or wallow in her own self-pity and guilt for the rest of the night. this distraction seemed to be the better of the two, and aden would have pushed her to go for it anyway. that was why she is accepting, absolutely no other reason.

ENOUGH TO MAKE THE DEAD SWITCH GRAVES ∕ the training started immediately for emiko, but she was separated from aden. they trained in different areas of the manor with different training styles. she trained with blades of all kinds—swords, daggers and knives, sai. castor said this was for self-defense purposes, but she knew it wasn’t. he said it was a way to connect her to her heritage. she thought it was bullshit. she had yet to speak to anyone other than aden yet, and she knew that castor didn’t like that. she refused to speak him, and all of the other unsettling staff of the manor. she was sixteen years old when she mastered her training, and was told to train hard despite that. she would, as long as she trained with aden when she wanted to. when they trained, she didn’t use actual weapons, but rather wooden ones. this way, neither of them would hurt each other. the same could not be said when she trained with castor—forced to use actual weapons, forced to draw his blood or have her own drawn. this was her way of life now. it had been for the past six years. if only she knew just how bad it would soon be.
SOMETHING IN THE WAY YOU LAY ∕ after she witnessed the brutal murder of her mother, suzuki emiko lived on the streets. she ate from the garbage bins of restaurants after close, got her clothes from the houses that were stupid enough to leave them on a clothesline. she was only eight years old then, and she was alone in the world. she survived off of this system for two years before castor hawthorne found her, and continued to live this way for six months before he took her in. she had things she had forgotten about now—warm food on the table, clean clothes on her bed, a roof over her head—but it wasn’t home. deep down, her little heart knew that it was too good to be true, but it was all that she had. plus, there was a little boy that was in the same boat she was—scared, scarred, and alone. aden ryker needed her in the same way she needed him. maybe they wouldn’t be so alone now.
@widcwbites. * i unfortunately don’t have a lot of comic knowledge about her (plan to change that) but from what i’ve read online, she’s an absolute icon! being a queen in your book is the highest honor, i think (‘:
@widcwbites. * RAHHHH. this actually makes me so happy (‘:
