            now that he was up close he gently patted at certain areas  ,  fingertips brushing the outlining of the clothes. he paid more attention to the little details he had woven into the garment. lingering on them with a tilt of his head. the studying left him uncharacteristically quiet  ,  focus put solely on the other. when he pulled away his hands were slightly shaking. nothing other than pure excitement coursing through him. he shook his hands out before directing a wide smile at viktor,  "how could I prefer it on anything else when you wear it this well? I am an artist  ,  viktor. I know beauty  ,  even without my vision." because maybe he couldn't see the smiles viktor gave him  ,   his exact features  ,  or even how this outfit looked on him. yet  ,  he could so easily feel him. 
            
            "this outfit makes you  ...  cold  ,  but in a comforting way. like a cool breeze on a hot day." two things he could accurately retel. he found that made the sentiment more meaningful. "truly  ,  viktor  ,  you look wonderful."

[  though he’s not typically the recipient of physical flattery, viktor is analytical; he recognizes the way valerian pauses when he emerges, and knowing that the other is taking him in without even *seeing* him makes something sanguine and warm twist around his ribs.  he stands a little straighter, putting more weight onto his good leg.  he knows he looks good — he FEELS good, an expected but pleasant side effect of wearing something so carefully crafted for *him* by someone who already knows him so well.
            
            he makes a sound of intrigued appreciation as valerian demonstrates the clasps, ducking his head to watch.  ]      extraordinary .   you truly are a virtuoso ,  aren’t you ?      [  he’s never been drawn to the extravagant fashions of the pilites or the more renowned undercity crowds, but the art that the clasps form over his chest is ingenious.  he smoothes his hands down the front of the tunic, tugging it fully into place — and then he turns back to valerian, his smile solicitous and easy.  ]      well ?  i do hope you prefer it on me to the mock-up .

after a moment of prolonged staring he cleared his throat  ,  giving a nod of his head at the question he had just only comprehended. when he neared he took the clasp into his own hand  ,  feeling for which one it was. when he recognized it he straightened a touch. a clear showing of his continuous excitement. "this one's fun! it was one of my favorites to make. there's actually ... " he felt around for a moment before locating another clasp. "these two go together  ,  around your torso like this and then they  ... " he snapped them into place  ,  smiling at the sound. "go into this one up here and! look  —  it's made to look like a gear." something he had studied for hours to get a clear picture of. the small details were hard to grasp  ,  more than he'd like to admit  ,  but once the idea had surfaced he grew a frantic need to get it done. a feeling that went into most of his work but well  —  probably not as obsessively as he did for all the personality he had included in viktor's clothing.

            valerian held the expression for a moment longer before breaking out into a grin  ,  a hand raising to cover his laugh. "I was just messing with you  ,  no need to apologize. and I suppose I am  —  but not at you  ,  just the customers who left because of your presence." it was rude  ,  in his eyes  ,  to run away in the face of someone. to both him and the man in front of him. "I'm just not good at controlling my expressions  —  never know what my face looks like  ,  so I find I'm much more expressive."

            "am I?" he reached a hand up towards his face  ,  confusing lying in the action. "this is my normal face  ..  are you implying that my looks are distasteful? your words wound me  .. "

            a quiet laugh escaped him at the others bluntness. something he both appreciated and agreed with. although he's no master in the ways of weaponry  ,  even he could tell the item was essentially worthless. "rest assured I did not purchase it myself. it was a  ...  commission  ,  of sorts  ,  to get it repaired." one he had only taken because of the high price attached to it. "for looks. it will be more of a display than anything else. the reasons for repairing it lie in the sentimental values." at least  ,  that's what he deduced from the clients long rant about the blade. 

   (  eyes travel over the blade being held out,  a sound of dismay escapes ashrami. whatever he spent on that wasn't worth it, he definetly got cheated.  )  that's the worst material in all of zaun and piltover twice over. for your sake i hope it wasn't too much you put for such a tool.  (  shifting through her metals and tools, the smith takes her time deciding the best course of action. which she always ended up figuring out in the end.  perhaps a new blade with parts of this old one,  or just to scrap it altogether. the quality would be ruined by such low rate material.  )  what kind of weapon do you need exactly?  for looks, battle.  i  need to know what i'm working towards, if it's worth the time.

            "ah  —  apologies  ,  if I made you uncomfortable. I don't quite control where my eyes focus when in thought." with a bit of an apologetic smile he walked forward. "I recently acquired a blade  ..  but the condition of it is poor  ,  to say the least. you've been recommended to me multiple times so I was hoping you'd have a look at it."

            with a tilt of his head he gave a pensive look  ,  dramatized with a long hum. "I can do that  ...  assuming that no one comes around asking for you. I'm easily swayed if the price is right."

            "you can still have that drink if you want. I'll even close up early so I can have one with you  ,  if you'd like." he nodded his head towards the bar portion of the store. "business is about the same  ,  only an increase in people buying information. don't worry though  ...  I   '  accidentally  '   gave the gangs incorrect information. they should be running in circles for a while." and still took their money. with what they were planning  —  he didn't feel bad about scamming them.

                 " Good thing we agree — " he reached out for the paper , looking at it for a few seconds before reading its content in silence. A sight , followed by the paper being put into one of his pockets  
                " you know — every time I come here I hope that you just tell me you wanted to invite me a drink and that nothing bad is going on — not my luck ... but hey , thanks for worrying for my complicated existence " he followed his words by a small laugh , tapping his gloved fingers on the counter  " how is the business going — ? "

            "you   /  do  /   do that  ,  hm? you're saving my wallet  ,  that's for sure. there's only so many broken windows I can afford to fix." something that he had been experiencing a lot of before the other came along. he pushed away from the counter to bend downwards towards the cabinets that laid beneath. val took a slip of paper and held it out  ,  a grimace slipping into his smile. "how about all of the above?  ..  and then some. made sure I wrote it all pretty for you. figured you could use some simplicity in your atrociously complicated life."
