I think the anger, jealousy (when the newer alter egos are let out freely), and the loneliness (being stuck in Jack's head for so long alone) that he felt drove him to slowly be twisted and the last straw was when people accused him for killing Chase

@SarcasticBloo My theory is that he's angry that everyone only sees him as the heartless bad guy, and he's so desperate to change that but no matter how much he tries people still see him as the person who 'killed Jack' in the Halloween video
