penelope’s   eyebrows   shot   up   ,   a   flicker   of   genuine   surprise   washing   over   her   features   before   it   softened   into   a   look   of   realization   .   she   let   out   a   breath   she   hadn’t   realized   she   was   holding   ,   the   corners   of   her   eyes   crinkling   as   she   took   him   in   with   fresh   perspective   .   she   shifted   on   the   velvet   cushion   ,   the   soft   fabric   yielding   beneath   her   as   she   finally   connected   the   dots   between   his   new   bearing   and   the   rumors   she’d   overheard   in   the   hallways   .   her   hand   brushed   against   the   cool   silk   of   her   skirt   ,   her   movements   fluid   and   full   of   life   under   the   warm   glow   of   the   candles   .   ❛   oh   ..   right   !   silly   me   .   ❜   she   let   out   a   small   ,   airy   chuckle   ,   shaking   her   head   at   her   own   forgetfulness   .   ❛   that   explains   why   everyone   is   acting   so   different   today   .   --   i   guess   i’m   still   getting   used   to   the   idea   of   you   behind   a   desk   instead   of   getting   into   trouble   .   it   hasn’t   quite   clicked   for   me   yet   .   ❜   she   offered   him   a   warm   ,   knowing   grin   &   patted   the   empty   space   on   the   velvet   bench   beside   her   ,   inviting   him   to   step   out   of   the   spotlight   for   a   moment   .   ❛   /   soooo   /   ..   does   being   king   mean   you’re   too   busy   for   old   friends   now   ,   or   are   you   still   the   same   ol'   benny   underneath   all   that   fancy   new   title   ?   ❜
