My book is called Shadows and Heartbeats. It's about a girl named Lorelai Ellison, who can see and speak to spirits. She has visions, too, and though this gift has tortured her, she does her best to help the spirits who come to her.
She's been bullied and ostracized her entire life because of it. But her whole life changes when she moves to a small-town Yellow Springs in Ohio and meets a boy named Johnathan Thatcher.
The school bully takes a liking to her and harasses her every chance he gets. His advances become threatening and eventually violent. Everyone else sees a jerk. Lorelai sees the demon attached to him. Granted, she hates him, but her good nature knows she needs to help him despite it.
Will Johnny believe her, or will he leave her? Has she finally found someone she can trust? Someone who will protect her?
