Here at Behind the Chapters, we're committed to investing our expertise and resources in order to further achieve our cause. Since 2020, we've been supporting our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts. Just imagine what we can achieve together!

We host writing competitions and events to help children and adults develop their skills of writing and reading. We do this by showcasing famous pieces of literature, showcasing the world of writing by interviewing authors, and putting out blog posts to inspire others.

In honor of Marsha Cuttill-Price, a middle-school reading teacher who passed recently, this annual writing competition is dedicated to helping writers grow in their potential. The submission are judged by a group of panelists, and the results will then be posted. Applications open April 1, 2020 and will conclude June 1, 2020. The awards will be posted on July 10, 2020. To be eligible to apply, the applicant must be between the ages of 13-19 and the submitted work must be in English. There will be multiple categories which will include Non-Fiction Short Stories, Fiction Short Stories, Fiction Novellas, and Poetry Compilations. The short stories must contain a minimum of 5,000 words while the novellas must contain a minimum of 20,000 words. The poetry compilations must have a minimum of 20 selected works. These must all be original works, however, applications can be submitted as a group. All submissions must be sent to behindthechapters@gmail.com through email. We would love to see your submissions, and we look forward to reviewing your works.
