Fun fact of the day: 'Binnie Baker' is a fictional name. My name isn't Binnie Baker, or anything remotely close. I have a French/German name. I chose a pen name mostly because I feel I'm most creative when anonymous.
There's no intricate backstory behind 'Binnie Baker'. 'Binnie' was a random shower thought, and 'Baker' is the English translation of 'Boulanger', which was the name of a very good friend of mine.
I began writing with intense dedication while studying for my bar exams, though I've written for the majority of my life. The stress and immense pressure from those exams nearly drove me to the edge, and writing and reading became my escapes. This might be another reason I went with a pen name—to separate my personal life from my writer's life.
I used to assume 'Binnie' was a feminine name, but I've been misgendered online a few times. I find it quite amusing. Plus, I believe it adds on another layer of anonimity, which allows me to write without any barrier.
