Hii, I’ve been reading Horns and all the sequels after it since I was in middle school, and I’ve just recently graduated high school. Throughout the years, I’d always come back and reread the stories, but I would always get caught up with life and never actually finish them. For the longest time, I assumed it was because I had grown up and just wasn’t interested in things like this anymore.
Recently, I decided to reread it just for fun, and I found myself getting really interested in it all over again. When I first read this book, I was going through a very, very hard relationship, and things were really difficult for me at the time. But now, years later, I’ve found someone, and while rereading the book, I realized just how much I can still relate to it just in a completely different way.
Your books aren’t just books. They represent so many different people’s real lives, even if they started as fanfics. Even though years have passed and I’ve found myself coming back and leaving the stories over and over, every time I return, I remember how much your books were an escape for me from my relationship and from life in general.
Not only was I able to relate to it back then, but rereading it now made me realize how much I can still relate to it today. All the funny pages and the comments, but also the sad and realistic moments. There’s just so much in these stories that feels real and human.
Thank you so, so much for writing such an amazing book. Not only have I been able to find pieces of myself in it, but I know so many other people have too. And as the days go by, more and more people will find your books and have the same experiences I did…finding comfort, relating to Billie & Lexi, laughing at the funny moments, and maybe even using the stories as an escape when life gets hard.
Thank you for giving us that.
Rest easy, Ri. ❤️
