hey y'all, Shelbs here.
2026 marks 10 years that I've been on Wattpad, and what a wild decade it's been.
had a ton of highs and lows with y'all here, between writing for the Phan fandom, Motionless in White, and then my brief stint of trying to come back with Stray Kids and K-Pop.
getting to know so many of you over those years has been a treasure, and if I could go back in time, i wouldn't change a thing.
that being said, however, I think my time as a writer here has come to an end.
I hate saying that, and it actually feels incredibly sad to be closing this chapter, but things just aren't the same anymore and it's time that I move on and focus on AO3, where I'm having an overall better experience with writing and publishing my works.
I hit many a first for me here, such as getting 1k, 5k, and then almost 10k reads on a single fic, but we all start somewhere and Wattpad just wasn't meant to be a permanent feature in my story.
This isn't to say that I will never come back to Wattpad, I just don't vibe with the way that the site is going anymore, and that's okay. in my eyes, it's moving away from the indie focused website that we all loved, and morphing into something far too concerned with mass market appeal.
While they're free to do that, it's just not where my interests sit, and that's just how it goes.
I'll still be around as a reader here and there, and any public reading lists I've curated will stay as well, but this page is effectively winding down and going into a hibernation of sorts.
How permanent that is remains to be seen.
